VersaGrade, Inc. was contracted to perform the sitework for Phases 1 and 2 of this project. Ph. 1 consisted of 150,000 sf of clearing followed by 27,500 cy of mass grading (cuts to fills) to construct a 72,500 sf super pad. Ph. 2 required construction of a 32,000 sf structural foundation pad and associated sitework including SWPPP, underground utilities, extensive exterior flatwork and paving. Underground Utilities included: 8 & 10” water main, 2 & 3” domestic water services, 900 lf of 8” fire service including a DCDA in a below grade precast vault, hydrants, post indicator valve and fire department connection, as well as irrigation water service.
The sanitary sewer system included a grease interceptor with 4 & 6” sewer services. The storm drain system included several hundred feet of 6, 8, 12 & 18” storm drain piping with manholes and catch basins. The balance of underground utilities included electric, communications and gas services. The project required over 2,000 lf of curbs and gutters, 14,650 sf of exterior flatwork and over 42,000 sf of asphalt paving. A unique requirement of this project included construction of an under-slab Radon Mitigation System.
VersaGrade was contracted for the sitework portion of a Brand New United Federal Credit Union in Northwest Reno. Due to marginal on-site soils (Clays with moderate expansion potential), VersaGrade was required to over-excavate and off-haul the marginal soils and import, place and compact structural fill materials for the foundation and exterior flatwork and paving areas. Other work included approx. 7,000 sf of structural pad construction (Type 2 Agg. Base and 10 Mil Vapor Barrier), underslab footings and pier excavations; 6” Fire Service from Main in high-traffic street, 2” domestic water and 1-1/4” irrigation services. Sewer system included 8” main, manholes, 4” service and grease interceptor. Storm Drain System included 12" & 15” storm drain piping, manholes, drain inlets and an engineered on-site underground drainage chamber.
The balance of utilities included electrical, communications and gas service. The balance of the sitework included over a thousand lineal feet of curbs and gutters, approx. 5,000 sf of exterior concrete flatwork and 22,000 sf of asphalt paving. A unique aspect of our scope of work included construction of 400 lf of Readi-Block retaining wall.
VersaGrade was awarded a project in Northwest Reno for the construction of a storm water collection and conveyance system adjacent to TMWA’s Highland Canal. The purpose of this project was to intercept drainage from private residences from entering the canal’s easement. Project elements included interception of roof-top drainage by piping into new 6, 8, 10 or 12” storm drain lines installed along the centerline of the easement; Installation of a French Drain System in common trench with the primary storm water drain pipe; several drop inlet man-holes were installed along the primary storm water drain system. All collection systems were terminated into a new man-hole installed in an existing street and retro-fitted into the City’s existing storm drain system.
VersaGrade was awarded a contract for the sitework portion of this contemporary, energy efficient, low income housing project in Reno, developed by the Northern Nevada Community Housing Resource Board. Project elements included demolition and disposal of approx. 7,000 sf of asphalt and concrete, 1,400 cy of earthwork, construction of a 34,000 sf structural pad, underground utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, electric, communications and gas services.
Exterior flatwork included over 1,500 lf of curbs and gutters, over 10,000 sf of concrete flatwork and 11,300 sf of asphalt paving. Unique elements of this project include state-of- the-art energy efficient HVAC Systems, upgraded insulation, EnergyStar rated appliances and fixtures, and a roof-mounted photovoltaic solar array. Juniper Village was awarded the 2013 State of Nevada Qualified Allocation Plan tax credit and is designed to meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) compliance for indoor air quality/healthy environments.
VersaGrade was awarded a contract for the sitework to add approximately 6,400 sf of retail space to the former Borders bookstore building in the Redfield Promenade Shopping Center in Reno. Project elements included demolition and disposal of concrete flatwork and asphalt, earthwork, construction of the structural foundation pad, underground utilities and exterior flatwork and asphalt parking areas. Unique aspects of this project included new 6 & 12” storm drain system with manholes, new 6 & 8” sewer lines and re-routing an existing gas service as well as a 10” water main that required tie-ins at night to minimize domestic and fire service interruption to the existing businesses in the development.
VersaGrade installed a large custom precast concrete underground vault and NV Energy Crews disconnected and reconnected the electric service mains at night to minimize service disruptions to the retail centers existing businesses. A new truck loading ramp was constructed along a portion of the existing structure requiring temporary foundation underpinning of the existing foundation during construction of the new ramp.
VersaGrade, Inc. was awarded the contract for the sitework portion of this 66 unit affordable housing project for senior living. VersaGrade’s scope of work required extensive demolition and site preparation, including removal and disposal of approx. 65,000 sf of asphalt, 2000 sf of sidewalk and footings, 137,000 sf of clearing, retirement and/or relocation of existing water, sewer, storm drain and electric/communications services. Upon completion of the site preparation, VersaGrade performed earthwork to construct 65,000 sf of structural subgrades including a 32,000 sf. foundation pad. New underground utilities included extensive water (Domestic, Fire & Irrigation) services, sewer & storm drain systems, electric, communications and gas services. The back-end of our scope included grading and base course for 2,000 lf of curbs and gutters and 14,000 sf of exterior concrete flatwork followed by 33,000 sf of fine-grading and aggregate base course for asphalt pavement areas.
VersaGrade was awarded a contract for the sitework portion of a new 18,000 sf office building for the NV Dep’t. of Transportation. VersaGrade’s scope of work included demolition of an existing sand storage building and foundation, asphalt removal, and earthwork for the structural foundation pad.
Underground utility work included new water (Domestic and Fire) services, sewer service including tie-in to existing main in street, electric, communications and gas service. VersaGrade also performed grading prep. and aggregate base course for the exterior concrete flatwork and asphalt paving areas.
VersaGrade was contracted to perform the site work portion of this Public Works project in Reno adjacent the Washoe County Office Complex. The project was to construct a new green house and wash shed as an addition to the University of Nevada Renos' Agriculture Department Valley Road Field Laboratory. 26,000 Square Feet of building pads were constructed along with foundation and footing excavations. A sanitary sewer manhole was removed and replaced with the addition of 120' of new 8" sewer main line and laterals that serviced the new building. Approximately 500' of water and electrical service were also trenched, installed and back filled.
Vancouver-based Ostara helps protect precious water resources by changing the way cities around the world manage excess nutrients both in wastewater streams and due to fertilizer runoff. Ostara does this by removing polluting nutrients, such as phosphorus and nitrogen from municipal and industrial water streams. They are then able to transform these nutrients into a slow release, eco-friendly fertilizer. VersaGrade was contracted to perform the site work and utilities portion of the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility addition that incorporated the Ostara installation. The building itself, measuring 80' x 26', is 47' tall. VersaGrade prepared the building pad, footings, and site concrete for this slab on grade structure. Utilities required for the Ostara installation included air, water, electrical, data, and centrate lines.
