Immediately upon graduating from California State University At Chico in 1986, with a degree in Construction Engineering, Bob Fehling was hired by one of the nation’s top
heavy-civil construction contractors. He spent 10 years travelling the U.S. with a team of talented and skilled engineers and managers to build several large public works projects including earthen dams, bridges, interstates and tunnels. These unique experiences allowed Bob to develop the skills and knowledge to plan, execute, and complete large scale projects with efficiency. In an attempt to settle in one area, Bob went to work for a general engineering contractor in Salt Lake City, UT that specialized in deep foundation systems and slope stabilization. After a couple of years in this arena, Bob wanted to move westward to be closer to his family. He accepted a general manager position with a new start-up company (Incorporated in 1995) Silverado Excavating in 1998, and purchased the company in 2002. As of December 1, 2018, Silverado Excavating merged into VersaGrade, Inc.
