VersaGrade was awarded a contract for the sitework to add approximately 6,400 sf of retail space to the former Borders bookstore building in the Redfield Promenade Shopping Center in Reno. Project elements included demolition and disposal of concrete flatwork and asphalt, earthwork, construction of the structural foundation pad, underground utilities and exterior flatwork and asphalt parking areas. Unique aspects of this project included new 6 & 12” storm drain system with manholes, new 6 & 8” sewer lines and re-routing an existing gas service as well as a 10” water main that required tie-ins at night to minimize domestic and fire service interruption to the existing businesses in the development.
VersaGrade installed a large custom precast concrete underground vault and NV Energy Crews disconnected and reconnected the electric service mains at night to minimize service disruptions to the retail centers existing businesses. A new truck loading ramp was constructed along a portion of the existing structure requiring temporary foundation underpinning of the existing foundation during construction of the new ramp.
